Before you upgrade to Vista..

Here's a guide to making Windows XP look and act like Vista, without the compatibility issues :) This is completely safe- I have it running on my own work PC and it's nice to have a refreshing change from the boring XP GUI..

Have fun!

I know, I was just providing a stopgap for people who don't want to pay to upgrade, or buy a new machine. :)

I personally use Vista on my home PC and think it's great, although I do have a couple of compatibility issues..

In particular, the article pointed me towards Yahoo! widgets, which work just like Vista's sidebar gadgets- I wish I'd known about it before as I find some of them really handy!

Funny, as I've installed Vista and want to make it look like XP, which I like to look like NT4!

I've used Stardock's software for years (eg Windowblinds). Think I prefer Objectdock and DesktopX to yahoo widgets. Yahoo widgets was ok when it was Konfabulator but when they got bought by Yahoo it pushed too hard on the advertising (eg changed my homepage/default search engine down to registry level to yahoo without asking). They may have stopped doing that when installing now but I'll always be put off that I had to reinstall windows from scratch to get rid of all the yahoo stuff they put on my machine.
