Manchester Airport Parking Refund?

My parents are going away in the early hours of the morning tonight, to save money on a taxi they opted to drive and park which cost them about £75. Well their car broke down yesterday evening and now they have had to book a taxi, he tried phoning the cancellation number last night but it's only open 7-10pm and he didn't get in from work until after 12.
Phoned this morning and they said he couldn't have his money back none of it as he had to cancel 24 hours before, but when he phoned he was only a few hours off that. Is there anything that we can do to try and get his money back or at least some of it? It's not his choice to cancel the car is broke and now he's had to pay for a taxi on top as well as them keeping his money.

Probably not to be honest, unless they sold the spot to somebody else in which case you'd be entitled to offset that against your service and receive a refund that reflects this.0

It sounds like no chance from the parking company if he didn't cancel in line with the ts + cs.0

if they are not open 24/7 then how can anyone cancel the parking if the 24 hour window ends when theyre closed.
i think you have a very good chance if this is the case but you may actually have to threaten county court proceedings to be taken seriously.0 -
Thank you all for your replies. I fear that he won't get his money back seeing as most companies are just money grabbing whatever your situation, but he really can't afford that and he's really upset that he's lost it as he was only trying to save money in the first place, plus his MOT has just been done two days ago and that was close to £200 due to the rip off garage.
Spankey, that is my thinking as well they should have a call centre that's open 24 hours if they make that rule, he didn't want to cancel but with the car broke now he didn't have a choice and he couldn't phone until 7am this morning until they opened not his fault.
Not a good way to start their holiday off. Thank you again to all replies.:heart2: Current Reading Book: [STRIKE]Avengers Angel by Heather Killough-Walden[/STRIKE](on hold) The Good, The Bad, and the Undead - Kim Harrison

What work did this "rip off garage" do for £200?
What caused the car to break down? Was it related to the recent work?0 -
An MOT is a safety check. It doesn't guarantee that a car component unrelated to safety won't fail.

Oh I know, I was just making the point of how much money he's spent this week when he was wanting to save money. He had two used tires put on which the garage told wouldn't cost much and a windscreen wiper that's it and they charged £200.
He said two of his work friends were stood around his car in the car park last night and said loads of steam came out of it and water from the bottom, he thinks he knows what it is but can't get the part before they leave tonight and fix it himself as he's at work now until 11pm.
Sods law it breaks down and then this business with the airport has really got him down as well as he thought he'd get some of his money back at least.:heart2: Current Reading Book: [STRIKE]Avengers Angel by Heather Killough-Walden[/STRIKE](on hold) The Good, The Bad, and the Undead - Kim Harrison
