Hello all!

Nice to finally find a forum with people genuinely wanting to help you out!

Right here goes...

I'm moving to Plymouth with Fianc! (as of last week WOOHOO) and am currently renting in Cardiff, I was worried about the credit check before when we started renting in Cardiff but it went through fine.
Now is a bit different, I fell for the application trap and applied for loads of different cards at the same time and dropped my score went from excellent 997 to fair 835 - I have absolutely no missed payments (in the last 5 years anyway) no CCJ's, never have been bankrupt, no IVA's. Always make payments on time. My OH has perfect credit history so not worried about her.

What I'm asking is do you think we'll be ok - we won't be able to get a guarantor if needed but is it true Letting agencies can only see if you've been been bankrupt, have CCJ's or IVA's? Not you actual credit score? I earn 33k and see earns 25k and we are looking to rent a property for only 600 per month.

Any Help would be appreciated to put my mind at rest.

Thanks in advance,

Will

What agents and landlords take into consideration as well as credit-scores is affordability.

If you and your partner don't try and rent somewhere that's going to cost you over two-thirds of your take-home pay a month I think you should be fine. Lots of people with car-loans, credit-cards and other debts manage to rent. So, I guess it depends on how much of a battering you've given all those credit-cards because you should expect to be asked to provide recent bank-statements as well as pay-slips

I would never provide bank statements. Payslips fair enough, but your spending is nothing to do with them. A reference from your current LL saying all rent paid on time etc is appropriate
