I had a leaking roof over the weekend , subsequently leaked onto my bathroom ceiling which has collapsed
someone has looked today and tell me I have a cracked tile which is the cause of the problerm , but a cracked tile wont be classed as storm damage and therefore not covered by the insurance ,
how does a tile crack unless its wind damage

I don't think tiles are immune from wear and tear although they should last a long time.
In normally weather a cracked tile won't cause a leak becuase there should be roofing felt etc. underneath to stop water getting in.
If a ceiling has collapsed it sounds bad.
Did you have really bad weather or could there be something further wrong with the roof.
You are right that "wear & tear" is not covered by insurance however the subsequent damage to your property should be.
I'd be wanting to get someone to look further at the roof because a cracked tile should not cause that much damage, so it would suggest further problems.0 -
I dunno to be honest I can sit on my toilet and look thru the hole in my ceiling and see daylight though
seriously there is a small hole in the outer roof - i can see daylight through , we had 2 days of non stop rain so albeit a small hole there was loads of water coming in , but what happened to the underfelt I dont know , never had any probs with the roof before , but the house is 50 years old so they reckon its wear and tear , just gutted as no doubt a new ceiling is gonna cost a few quid
edit: so if the tile isnt covered - I may still be covered for the subsequent damage :think:0
