Santander Payment Issue

My statement appeared online on the 11th so I paid the minimum + £1 by FP straight away from Barclays. It appeared almost immediately as always. However it showed against the last statement period. This month's still showed 0 transactions today so I've paid it again. Would I have been stung for no min payment this month? I've flagged my spreadsheet to wait a day in future just in case.

I'm guessing you might have been stung but hopefully they would have reversed it. Perhaps the paper statement will show something different when you receive it.
They do have funnies from time-to-time. I had one when doing a BT - it was shown as 0% on the statement but I was still charged interest. They corrected it and said it was some kind of programming issue with that particular promotion. Santander are famous here for their poor customer service, but I must say I've found them fine to deal with.
I would have done the same as you - unless you're strapped for cash it is usually better to take a pragmatic approach rather than standing on principle and have the hassle of arguing things out.
I've noticed some "funnies" with online statements. With one of my CCs, (forget which), the statement sometimes appears online but dated the following day.
And with Barclaycard over bank holidays, I've sometimes had a payment showing as received on the day before I sent it!
Where I can get downloadable "proper" statements (eg PDF files), then I pay when I get them. With Santander and others where there is no proper downloadable statement, I wait a couple of days. I think they cover themselves by saying only the "paper" version is the official version.0 -
This definitely seems like a mistake on their part. You've followed the instructions to make a payment against your bill, so you should not be classified as late. You should phone them and make sure the payment is properly allocated.0

If the paper/PDF statement has been produced, payments would be applied to the current billing period, rather than the previous one.
Download the PDF copy and see what that says.0 -
Statement just appeared in post today. £70 payment to pay the minimum for the month before and the £70 I paid as a minimum for this month's - as it showed online. Definitely a problem but forewarned is forearmed.0

As per my post above, they don't really do a "proper" online statement. They have an option "view statements", but it gives you a summary and a list of transactions. You can download the transactions as a PDF/Excel file (etc). The summary (not downloadable) does give you minimum payment details and due-by date. I think it's reasonable for the OP to rely on this, but personally I give it a couple of days because I've often seen funnies online about the time a statement is due.0 -

So, it does seem to be a glitch. Looking on the bright side, at least you've paid off a bit extra towards your credit card balance.
It might be worth mentioning it to them, but I doubt it will get you very far. Especially as the payment data and statement date are, presumably, the same.
At least you're aware of this issue now, so, as you say, you will be able to leave payment a day or two in future.0 -
Well your statement may have appeared online on the 11th but was the actual statement dated 11th? Santander changes date between 8 and 9pm and counts Saturdays but not Sundays, at least for current and savings accounts0

The online statement from Santander shows as below, that's all you get, except on the 11th it was payments received £70 not £140 as showing today. If it said 'Don't pay your minimum payment today by faster payment as this won't count' then I would have taken heed.
Previous balance: £6,900.08
Payments received: £140.00
New transactions: £0.00
Your new balance: £6,760.08
Minimum payment due: £67.60 on 07/07/2013
Next month's estimated interest: £0.000 -

I use the figures given in the paper/PDF statement, rather than the ones in the summary. They're always a little odd because of the cashback I receive.
Interestingly, I made a payment towards my Santander Credit Card on Thursday, but it hasn't been credited to my account yet. Payments usually take a few days to appear. I didn't use FP; instead I used the pay card option within Santander.0 -

It's a Zero card not a 123, though we use this too.
We all have the pay card option but I choose to use FP. The problem is, one made on the day of the production of the statement is not shown as valid, ie you will get stung for a non payment. This is not MSE.0
