does ebay item classify for not as described case?

I just bought a rolled gold bangle from ebay. The description was:

This elegant bracelet/bangle is in superb condition and clearly stamped inside:
B Ltd 50 micron 9 ct RG PAT No 1167637
It is hinged and has a very secure closure mechanism and a safety chain.
PAYPAL ONLY THANKS.

The picture showed a gold bracelet with a nice engraving on it.

When i received it, apart from "superb condition" being a bit of an exaggeration, I was surprised to find that the engraving was only on one half of the bracelet, tue rear half was blank (and quite scratched up). I felt this was dishonest as from the photo there is no way you could tell the rear was blank so in my view the seller should have stated it in the description or showed it in the photo.
I emailed the seller to explain my problem, they told me that the bracelet was "perfect" so they wouldn't let me return it. I emailed back saying I still wasn't happy and they said I couldn't return it because they were was looking after their elderly father and were too busy (not too busy to sell on ebay though it seems).

I would like to open a case but I'm not sure if I can use not as described as the seller didn't mention engraving at all. I am trying to contact ebay to ask about it but I'm stuck in a vicious circle on their contact us page!

I would be really grateful for any advice people can give me!

If you open a SNAD case with ebay they will almost certainly find in your favour. You will have to return the item at your cost though, fully tracked and insured when they tell you to.

thank you for your reply. Will they refund me the original postage do you know? I might be better off trying to resell it if not.

If you win a SNAD claim and get item back to seller then they are forced to refund all of your original payment.

As stated before - make sure you send it back tracked as the seller doese not sound too helpful!

When the transaction is ended make sure you leave appropriate feedback!

It's a rolled gold, 9ct gold plated bracelet, that you bought for £13. I'd not expect both halves to be stamped.

It's just gold plate, it's not like it's 9ct and you paid £300 for it.

Most rolled gold bracelets are like that, one half blank other engraved. Yes the description does not state this but it also does NOT state it does have engraving. So strictly speaking the listing is factually correct.

So after postage to return, get £9 back
