Hi,
I am currently working full time and looking at the open university to complete a part time bsiness and management undergraduate degree, this costs £15372 (£5124 annual).
My salary at the moment is £25k and my wifes is £9k we do receive tax credits yearly and we have 2 children 3 and a half, and 1 and a half.
Ive been reading many articles tonight and my head is full and slightly confused. I wonder if anyone could help me with the financial support I would be offered?.
Many thanks.

Hi. From what I understand of the OU now you will have the following option:
1, pay in installments on an ousba account. The cost of the course will be spread over 9mths.
2, Take out a tuition fee loan. This is issued the the student loans company, the same way it is for full time students at a brick uni.
the only other options are paying it on a credit card, outright or being sponsored by your employer and them covering the cost.
There is virtually no 'financial support' in terms of low/no fees anymore. The only one that exists is where you pay £25 for a foundation part of a degree but only if your household income is below £25000, which yours is way above.
fwiw, I would opt for the tuition fee loan as on an income of £25000 you will only be repaying £30pm, and nothing if your income drops below £21000.
on an ousba account you would be paying over £250pm, if studying part time i.e. 60 credits(£2500pa)Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
