Bought Car from dealer - severe oil leak

    What I meant was have you or your husband bothered to look under the bonnet or the car and see if it is obvious where the oil is coming from, it may be a simple case of tightening something up to stop it leaking further until a garage can look at it.

    I'd agree with this, if you damage the car by running out of oil, you'll be left with the costs and a VERY hard fight for compensation.... Because you knew it leaked and still drove it.

    By you driving the car you have put other road users at risk with oil strewn on the road this is a major risk to motorcycles. I am sure you could have made alternative arrangements and not need the use to use it.

    Did they MOT the car as well as service it? I am pretty sure a heavily oil leak would not pass an MOT. Even if they did not MOT the vehicle then they still should have been aware that the vehicle was not roadworthy in that condition.

    Oil leak not an mot failure unless it's somehow managed to foul something like brake pads. If it was there would be no fiats on the road today. My money on sump plug.

    My money is on the oil filter seal or if its plastic with a separate element like a corsa etc the plastic is cracked
