box in pipes that are all around the floor in every room?

We are buying a 1957 maisonette and all the pipes are on show in every room around the floor. Do you think is something we can do ourselves?

They dont stick out too far, so i dont think we'd need much depth...but neither of have ever done any DIY!

We have the same problem - our place has solid floors, so when the new central heating was put in, we thought it'd bo a job we'd need to do.

We even thought of buying really deep skirting & putting up close to the pies & then pretending that was how it should look!

In the end, I just painted the pipes same colour as the wall & once the furniture & stuff is moved into place, they don't look half as obvious as you might think!

& without any boxing in, you get the added benefit of extra heat, as the pipes themselves warm the room - this wouldn't be as much, if boxed in!

Leave them, as they are, save the hassle & paint them!!

I hate boxed in pipes! The boxes are the most appalling dust traps and as they are usually in awkward places, getting to them past furniture and into corners makes a crummy job (dusting) even harder. I'd go with vansboy's suggestion!
