Can I get funding and student loans for another degree?

Advice needed please:
I am 28 years old. I have a 2:1 degree already but I am finding it useless in terms of getting a job that matches my intellect and in terms of my long term life goals.
I was thinking of undertaking another degree.
Does anyone know if the Student Loans Company would give me further funding for another degree if I've already done one before?
thanks

simple answer, 2 words: effectively not (unless it's an NHS funded course)
you will need to self fund and will pay fees at a higher (ELQ = equivalent learning qualification) rate.
There are career development loans for such purposes but repayments commence immediately0 -
What was your degree in and from where? What makes you think a second degree would improve your employment prospects?snarlsbukowski wrote: »Advice needed please:

What makes you think you're intelligent if you didn't get a first?0

No, you won't get a loan from SLC. Have you thought about doing a Master's degree rather than a second undergraduate degree? Fees are often lower than undergrad courses and many can be completed in one year full time study (or you may be able to study part time or distance learning and continue to work part time).0

Is there a range of funding for masters degrees these days? I'd want to do a masters in scriptwriting or film studies...and I heard that people only get funding for a masters if it's in a research capacity. I am very vague on this whole area. For instance, how would one afford accomodation - say I went to do a masters in Edinburgh - would I have to fund both the study and my day to day living an accommodation myself?
(sorry to be so vague on this and asking about money - my dad died of cancer last year, and to be honest I went into a slump and depression and haven't earned or saved a great deal of money)
thanks0 -
No, there's not much funding for Masters degrees (quite possibly none) so you'd need to fund both fees and living costs yourself, but it's very likely that's what you'd have to do anyway for a second undergraduate degree. But as I said, the fees are likely to be lower than an undergraduate degree, and you'd only have to do it for one year rather than three.
You could try getting a Career Development Loan (the government pays the interest while you are studying then you have to start repaying in full when you complete your studies) but I'm not convinced that any of the lenders who provide CDLs would consider the type of subject you're think of as suitable for getting a job that will allow you to repay the loan.0 -

Loads of very intelligent people get 2:1s because they're also having a very good time! No need to be mean.
I feel ignoring people like that does the world of good lol0 -
