Got a 1998 Mazda Xedos that needs a new boot lock.

Can anyone recommend any of the online breaker sites please? I have put a request in with Breakerlink to start it off, please add any others:

Ebay. Several being broken for spares.

I wouldnt touch online breakers, Too many people order parts and they dont turn up or are not of a decent quality.
By the time you have chased your bank or card for a refund and paid return costs. You have spent more than buying it from a main dealer.

    Phone the local breakers.

    I second forgotmyname's comment.

Get on the 'bay or go to a scrapyard in person. You can usually phone ahead to see if they have an example of your car.

A lot of online 'breakers' are actually just agents that search the parts you require from real breakers and charge a premium.

See if you can find out whether any other more common vehicles had the same lock. You may find the lock on an MX-5 is the same for example, which will make tracking one down much easier.

Never had any good results via online breaker brokers (thinking partsgateway).
Sister had a result though, bought an engine, wrong one sent(Isuzu sent instead of GM) full refund but never came back for the engine.

Engine later sold for a couple of hundred.

Thanks guys, will re-think my strategy along the lines you suggested.
  • Ive used the online parts brokers with mixed Success.... Usually end up Spitting moring Coffee over the comedy price of parts price given... Also Handy in reverse physcology if breaking a vehicle.:)
