PL insurance

Hi,

I am arranging a nearly new sale at my local secondary school and have been trying to get PL insurance for this event (2-3hrs long). The first quote I had was £379 and the second was £120, which is still more than hiring the venue. I was expecting to pay around £80. Has anyone had any experience with this and can recommend a company
Thanks

Ax

Are you sure you need this? Did the school specifically ask you to arrange this as a pre-requisite of hiring their hall?

I would have thought the school would have it's own Pubic Liability insurance, and would include you on that as part of them hiring the hall to you.

If the school did make this a pre-requisite, then perhaps the school could advise you where others obtained such insurance from. I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time they've been asked :)

I believe that you can go on their insurance but it's different if you are hiring for commercial use :-(

I am the chairman of a large kids football club and find the Schools want to see you PL insurance if you are carrying out an activity on their premises. Even a car boot sale!

You might have to tell them you cannot afford it as you are not a business. They may take pity on you and cover you on theirs.
