In Credit on my Credit Card - can I transfer the balance?

Options
Hi

Apologies if this is a really, really stupid question...

I have a Bank of Scotland Mastercard which is about to be credited with £200. It's a long story - basically I paid for computer repairs and as they have now decided the computer is unrepairable, I'm getting the money back. But they won't refund the money except to the Mastercard, and I almost never use this card (this was the first time in about a year).

Is there anyway I can then transfer the £200 back to my Bank of Scotland current account? And can they insist on refunding it to my Mastercard?

help... I really don't want £200 credit on my credit card which will just sit there (especially as I can't remember my pin number which means I can only use it on the internet!!)

most companies post refunds back to the source of the payment (security issue)

if you phone BOS, and request the credit returned, they will either issue a cheque, or transfer it into your account instantly

Just phone the credit card company and ask them to send a cheque for the positive balance or transfer it to your current account.

They can insist on refunding it back to the card.
The reason why they almost always insist on this is that they will get their fees refunded this way.

Get it credited back to you by cheque or bank transfer.

Don't leave it sitting their as the money may not be insured.
What I mean by that is if your card is fraudulently used and YOUR money is stolen then the card might not help.
They insure THEIR money (when you are in debit) but sometimes they don't insure YOUR money (in credit).

So either use the card for petrol etc. and spend it or get it transferred ASAP.

thank you everyone, particuarly Lissyloo - I'd do a double thanks if I could! I'd never have thought that it might not be covered in the event of fraud!
