Scart Issue

Hi, I have had a problem with scart interfernce for a little while now. I get a ghost image when I watch sky and I am not sure how to get rid of it. Following various internet sources I went a purchased £30 worth of scart cables from Tesco that are flat (wires are spread out) and gold plated to replace all of my existing cables.

At first I could not see the ghost images anymore and I was a happy bunny, but yesterday I noticed that the ghost images are still there; albeit not as strong as before.

Any ideas on what I should do?

Cheers,

Nick.

Try makeing sure your cables don't cross power cables.

Also how many cable did you get for your £30? I would be very supprised if the sheidling is any good on them

what is your source? DVD, video, digital box? you need to find out what the source of the problem is, it may be the source that has the problem if its an aerial make sure no power cables cross it there are loads of possible causes but it will be due to interferance of some kind you just need to find where its comeing from.

usually it is a case going back to the basic tv and aerial and then slowly adding a component at and see which item is casuing the ghosting try different cables when you see the ghosting and then continue. the thing is you will need to physically remove everything from the cabinet or what ever you have there to ensure you find the problem causing bit.

I'm a big believer of good quality scart leads so you've certainly not wasted your money (if they are infact good).

But I'm not sure having crapping cables would give you a ghost image it's more likely to be the actual signal your receiver is getting. Have a look at what signal strength and quality is from the Sky system setup area.

Sorry if you have already tired this.

I guess watching normal TV with the Sky turned off or DVD/Video using same cable is ok, yeh?

PS: Little John beat me to it. Certainly narrowing it down and going back to basic would be a good start and a good idea.

    Dave

as mentioned - you need to go back to basic and check each scart/aerial cable individually.
i have a similar complicated set up including 2 videos, dvd, cable box, signal booster/splitter - one of the videos actually affects the signal depending upon where i put it iin the loop....
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

I removed devices one by one with having the sky left and the ghost image was still there.

This is the set up I have:

sky output scart 1 -> vcr -> tv
sky output scart 2 ->dvd recorder -> tv
    freeview box -> tv

I am using the tesco technika cables that are flat and gold plated.

    Cheers,

    Nick.

This is called video breakthrough. Do a Google search for scart video breakthrough.

take out the videos and see what you get it is normally videos that cause the problems sky box direct in to the TV.

Thanks for that guys, I am going to cut off the wire/pin that goes back to the tv. I am going to keep the cables as it has been over a month and they have reduced most of the inteference.
