HELP- I need a MOT for my coach!
Options
Last year I bought a coach- It was a PSV (53 seater school coach)- I converted it to a motor home.
I desperately need an MOT station in or around Camberley area (GU postcode) that can fit a full sized coach- as the earliest VOSA can fit me in is 15th July and we're going to Glastonbury festival 19th June!
Can anyone help?!
Cheers,
Lea

I used to be a mechanic for a coach firm and our big coaches including the 53 seaters needed a class VI test which can only be carried out at a government testing station. Have you tried ringing up VOSA for a list of stations in your area?
I'm not really sure on this but do you still need PCV test now it's been converted from a passenger carrying vehicle to motorhome?0 -
Just checked this out and motorhomes should be class IV same as a car and same price as well as long as you have registered a change of class to the DVLA
Problem is trying to get your coach into a normal sized garage :O)0 -
Yep, you're right on the change on class thing.
We've got a couple of MOT stations around our area that take coaches, but our coach has a wheelbase of 19ft and a weight of 9 ton (so too long for the ramp and too heavy for the lifts!)"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye."...Miss piggy0 -
It's a long time ago now, but our local bus company (in Portsmouth) used to do MoTs and servicing as a sideline.
Might be worth a phone call? Try a small local coach outfit and see who they use?0 -
Citibus in Plymouth will test coach sized motorhomes, and it is class 4 - same as a private car.0

I'm thinking about doing the same thing (ie buying and converting a used PSV). Was it easy for you to find insurance? How roughly how much were you quoted?Lack of money is the root of all evil.
