HSBC Additional Payments

A bit of help please, I have a HSBC credit card and I'm currently making a payment via direct debit every month. However I want to get rid of the card this year so I'm after making additional payments every month via standing order.

I know in the past if you made an payment over the minimum amount they wouldn't take the direct debit. Is this still the case?

If so I'll have to amend the direct debit.

Thanks

Double check with them because different providers react different - eg RBS Group brands still take the minimum payment by DD even if you have cleared the balance in advance.

Alternatively, just wait for them to take the DD and then make your additional top up payment

I just do as InsideInsurnace suggest with my card.
I wait for the DD to go out then a day or two later but before the next statement is produced I make an extra payment. This has worked well for me. Of course I need to remember to make the extra payment, but I've not forgotten..... yet!!!

I dont know if extra payments made after the statement prevent the DD from being taken ( i know virgin do so I just do the same on all my cards as for me it is easier)

Best thing is to call and check.
