Is this sensible? NEWBIE ADVICE WANTED

hi there

i am taking some tentative steps into sorting out what im going to do with my cash- i have c30k

I am having 2x cash isas ( one in my name one in OHs)

I am having a regular saver with the yorkshire at 450 pcm ( after tax 5.85 return) ( this is out of salary not savings)

and considering a birmingham midshire fixed rate bond. ( one year-PAID ANNUALLY ) adn stashing 10k in there, but now I think of it, Im gravitating more towards 5k

Im wonderng whether this is all a bit cautious? I was thinking of seeing an IFA as Ive been dithering about this for too long and im losing money, but the nearest one I can find on unbiased is in Milton keynes, not a single one in london and i dont have transport or the time to get there, so im going to have to bumble alng myself for the time being.

Does anyone else have these same issues, I jhust dont get it. I have got the IFS Investments & Risks folder which ive been reading but it hasnt really sunk in, and Im scared im fumbling about a bit too much

You must be using the filters when you search. Just use the postcode search. Nothing else. The filters are a bit too agressive (i.e. if you pick a certain qualification, it will only show those with that particular qualification and not any of the others of an equal or even higher standard).

Risk is a personal thing. There is no right or wrong. However, personally, i would take on more risk than that. That doesnt mean you have to go gung ho into high risk but just take it easy and pick a few areas and move in gradually until you feel comfortable.

    thanks Dunston

I did search by postcode, and also didnt specify what qualifications - seeing as I dont know the difference between what they are.

I am up for more risk myself, maybe just a few k not loads, but not sure what to do to do this, hence my thoughts about an IFA

ill try again with unbiased - cheers
