Ticketmaster Rip-Off Must End

I write this having had numerous dealings with Ticketmaster over many years and having another recent bad experience. I have also heard of many others with bad experiences.

On 7/12/12 I purchased 2 tickets for a massive Wembley concert. The concert is this weekend (15th June). The tickets were £50 each and a further surcharge was added of £7.37 was added.

I was getting increasingly concerned about not hearing any news from Ticketmaster. 3 weeks before the event I recieved an e-mail saying the tickets were 'going out soon'.

Yesterday (12th June) 3 days before the concert I had recieved nothing. So this afternoon after a lot of faffing around on the website I finally found a 'help line' (08444999999).

The website clearly stipulates to call this number if tickets are not recieved 5 days before the event.

I called this afternoon and was kept on the line 20 minutes and still nobody answered. I had to hang up because I was on my lunch break and ran out of time.

I got home this evening to find the tickets had been delivered by post. The tickets were not sent by recorded delivery.

I feel Ticketmaster:
* Frequently overcharge (for whatever it is that they do) for tickets-surely inline with recent law changes in other industries ticket prices should include these fees.
* They should not be allowed to send tickets so late for an event (which they did to thousands of others going to this very concert as a trawl through the net reveals)
* Should be communicating with their customers professionally
* The number I called was a premium number (which is likely to cost 40p per minute on my mobile). How can they charge a premuim rate number without clearly advertising the fees? How can they charge 'premuim rate' phone lines for their own inability to deliver tickets within specified time?
* Why are tickets not e-mailed out? This should have been an option at least 10 years ago-it is clearly a money making device to post tickets as an excuse to charge these fees.
* This company have a monopoly within the industry-they need to be challenged for bad practices.

Please get behind this if you have or know others that have had bad experiences. Lets challenge Ticketmaster for their poor service and rip-off fees. Please tweet/facebook/e-mail to Martin Lewis' team on so that this can be challenged.

Have you thought of just not using them again ?

Why were you using them anyway if you had already had a bad experience with them ?

And they can charge what they like, and will, while people like you keep paying up.

Thanks for your response. So if I wanted to goto the concert when the tickets became available they were the only option-there were no other options. They have a monopoly.

They have supplied your tickets haven't they? The later they deliver the more touts they thwart.

You could buy Springsteen tix from other agencies (eg Ticketline)

Just enjoy the concert, and chill.

I must have been lucky as I have never had a problem with Ticketmaster. I know they post tickets near the concert date, but like the above poster says I have just assumed it is just done in an effort to stop ticket touts selling on at much higher prices in advance. A lot of fans also like the fact they get a paper ticket they can keep as a souvenir. My children would be very disappointed with an email ticket as they like to put their tickets on notice boards in their rooms.

To those people who claim that Ticketmaster dont send tickets out till late to stop touting are slightly misguided. If you book your your tickets for someone as popular as Springsteen indoor concerts such as Leeds in July they sold out in around 3 minutes of going on sale. However on their website you can go to their affiliated site "GETMEIN" where tickets for the sold out show on Ticketmaster are available immediatley for upto 4 times the price advertised. So as far as i'm concerned the only touts making money is Ticketmaster.
The sooner a goverment of any colour has the balls to outlaw secondary sales of tickets as they do for football the better for all consumers.
