Copy paperwork - to send or not to send?! Heeelp!

Hi all,

I am new to MSE and am finding great support in this fantastic forum. I am posting this new thread to ask if you will kindly give your view(s) which may help me to decide how best to submit a complaint regarding ppi relating to a consolidated chain of 5 loans.

I have received a letter indicating that I may fall into a category of customers who have been mis-sold ppi - some of the issues raised in the letter genuinely do apply. The loan referred to in the letter is the last in a chain of 5 loans which began back in 1999. I have paperwork relating to all of these loans together with supporting bank statements and even some old marketing mail.

My dilemma is whether to send copies of the loan agreements and other correspondence that I hold (since it is so old) with my letter of complaint or whether I should simply quote reference numbers and figures alone?

As the loans were 'topped up' I am unsure whether the single loan referred to in the letter will automatically link to the loans which went before it and therefore trigger an investigation into all 5. All loans are now settled and no claims on the insurance were ever made.

The ppi was single premium, paid (in each case) as a single monthly payment and, as far as I was given to understand, ppi was a part of the loan 'deal' and never optional - it was sold subtly and 'incompletely' slipping very much under the radar. Plus, it only covered my partner and yet no representative ever even spoke to him to find out if it would be suitable. I feel strongly that we never needed the insurance and were not given the opportunity at the time of sale to make an informed choice.

Your thoughts, experiences and views would be very gratefully received to help me to decide what to/not to enclose with my letter of complaint. Never done this before - it's scary!

    You should have no such "dilemma". Send as much supporting evidence as you can with your complaint. You can never have too much, you can certainly have too little.
