Bank Account Switch and Late Payment

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice.
I recently switched to First Direct using their switching service.
I transferred all my direct debits, including 2 credit cards.
Both credit card direct debits failed upon collection
- Credit card 1 rung me up to say the direct debit had failed and asked me to pay with a debit card - job done.
-Credit Card 2 tried to take payment on the 30th May (due date was 25th May with 5 days to settle payment). This failed. They did not call me to say this, instead they sent me a letter dated 4th June explaining that payment had failed and they were charging a late payment charge.
Payment came out of my new account on the 31st May so I assumed the direct debit switch had been successful (obviously I did not receive the letter until after 4th June). There was sufficient money in both old and new accounts to cover the payments.
Upon looking at my credit file, I notice that my rating is now 1 out of 5 (it was previously 4 out of 5). Upon further investigation, it shows credit card 2 company have posted a late payment notice to the file.
This is obviously going to affect my ability to access credit (I am hoping to purchase a house within the next year).
I have rung Credit Card 2 and they have told me that I failed to make a payment due to me "switching bank accounts" and there was nothing they could do to reverse this note on my credit file.
I have rung first direct and they have said that due that it was credit card 2 who posted this, it will need to be them to rectify this. They have advised to ring back tomorrow when the "easy" (?) switch department will be available.
Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this or could offer advise on next steps?
Thanks in advance

Hi, not sure if I have anything useful for this, but does sound similar to my problem: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/61875717#Comment_618757170

Which bank did they try to collect from, first direct or Santander?
If they tried to collect from your old bank after receiving switching instructions you should have a good chance at getting the late marker removed. What will your verse be?
