help with poor mans mousse

Well I think its a bit of a hit lol. The children all asked for 2nds & said it was soooo yummy. I confess to trying a little & yum. very odd flavour, strawberry jelly with tiptop but its well worth it for how much of a hit it was. Farm foods had the jelly & tip top in their 5 for £1 offer. So bit of a bargain dessert. I used 2 packets of jelly & 1 tin of tiptop.
Thanks for giving me the courage to give it a go anyway lol.

Was the Tip Top chilled? The recipe I use states chilled evap milk - don't know if that makes it whip up any better.
Will have to make this again soon. Lovely with orange jelly and broken mandarin segments in the bottom of the dish, mmmm!0 -

no I hadn't chilled it. I hadn't long been in when I realised my tiptop/condensed milk error. I do have another tin of tiptop that I will pop in the freezer to try next time.
Love the idea of the orange jelly & mandarin segments yum.

Make sure to keep whisking it until it becomes very thick,I do tend to get quite bored when whisking this as it takes a good ten mins before it even starts to thinken up.
Also leave it in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving to set.If it doesn`t set you could always use it as a cold fruity custard.Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0
