Painting onto plasterboards

Afternoon all,
i have a couple of questions, firstly I stripped the umpteen layers of wallpaper off the walls in my spare room so I can paint. Now on 2 walls I am down to the plaster board and on the 2 other walls, as they are on external walls I am down to the actual plaster itself. So what do I need to prep the external plastered walls with before painting? do i just sand a little to get smooth then paint onto it?
Secondly what do I do with the plasterboard walls? Same as plaster walls?
Thanks for any help
Phil

If you are down to the bare plaster, and there is no paint at all on it, then you must seal the plaster prior to doing your good coats.
You can either use a diluted white, (matt), then carry on with your colour choice, or you can use a bit of your colour.
All you do is thin down your first coat, by about 20-25% and put that on walls, this will show up any imperfections that may need filling.
Then for your second coat dilute the paint again only by about 10-15%, (going on the theory you will be using a quality make, dulux)
Then for your third coat, again I would just add a tad of water, this will give you a really smooth finish, as if you use straight from the can, the finish wont be a smooth.
Plasterboard Walls....
Some plasterboards after they have been stripped can be in a bit of a mess, rips, tears etc.
if yours is solid then you wont have to do any making good.
if you are just going to paint them and never paper them again, then do the same as I mentioned with your walls.0 -
Thanks alot, thats just what I was looking for.
Off to buy some paint now.
Thanks
