Online Law advice requesting 12 month membership payment

Hi
Is there anyone that has come across this...
I signed up to a online legal advice service, and there was a 14 day free trial, after which they start charging you a fee of 19 pounds a month. I was unable to find a contact number and struggled to find an email address therefore with the assistance of a friend found a section to cancel membership, which i did. I also had a Paypal debit signed up, which i cancelled.
I've received numerous messages stating that I need to pay for the 12 months membership. However, I feel it's unfair that i should pay as I struggle to make contact with them to cancel it in the first place.
I've raised my concerns of the lack of telephone contact, however they state i can make a query via their online contact page.
I really don't want to pay, is there anything I can do. I mean this maybe happening to other people who are as not computer savy as me.
