best dual fuel dd tariff?

Obviously told them their dreaming and I will be moving asap. My question is.... who am I going to get the best value and most reasonable direct debit rate from?
My partners on maternity and theres no way we can afford 120 pounds a month just for fuel!!!
Thanks in advance.

You have no history or experience with the house, so it is pretty much impossible to predict your future usage. If the supplier has based it on the previous tenant's usage, and has been realistic, ask them how many kWh (annual usage) for each utility that is based on.
You can then put those figures into a comparison site and see what deals are suggested. If it's near £120/month then you're not on such a bad deal. However, if the supplier has quoted you for their standard tariff, then you can almost certainly get it for less, maybe even with the same supplier.
Until you can establish some history, and start allowing for seasonal variances, I'd look for either a tariff with a fairly short duration, or one with no exit penalty, so that you can switch later at your convenience - and at no extra costI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Average Dual Fuel bill is now up to £1420 per year, it seems the previous owner was fairly typical.
Enter your estimated consumption figures into a comparison site. That will tell you the best for your circumstances, then switch via a cashback site.0 -
£120 is only just above the UK average. With your wife expecting a baby and presumably will be home all day, you will use a lot of gas this winter.
You don't say where you live, type of house or company/tariff. That will determine the best tariff, but don't expect huge savings.
Also the level of initial DD is no indication of annual cost. The call centres will set your DD low just to get your custom.0 -
Sorry guys its a mid terrace circa 1920s and its currently with scottish power. I know that the dd ammoint isnt the exact ammount but at our last house (flat roof bungalow with wooden windows and massively un economical ch system) we were only using 80 a month over winter!0

Compare their annual usage of gas and electricity and lifestyle with yours to see if it's similar. If it is, put the figures into a comparison site and see what it comes up with.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
