I have been fighting Scottish Power for ages over this matter.

We have a pre-payment meter and it is a single reading meter. We pay approximately £15 - £20 per week on electricity.

Everytime they send us a bill it is estimated and I call them with the correct reading only to be told that I am lying about the number of readings there are on the meter - they claim it should be a t reading meter and it isn't.

Fianlly about 2 weeks ago (this has been going on for about 2 years) they agreed to send out an engineer to change the meter to a 2 reading meter which will put us on a lower tariff :T Engineer should be here today between 1 and 6.

Can anyone tell me what efect this will have on our payments.

Also they have said they will refund us any money we have paid over the lat 2 years whilst we have been on the single read meter. Can anyone tell me how this will be worked out ???

Thank you

T xx

Usually if you pay a standing charge that will go up, your daytime unit prices will also go up but your nightime costs will come down. SP should be able to work out how much they could refund you by getting readings from your new meter to see what % you use at night then working back.
