Engine problem(?) after speedo failure (52 Mondeo)

Coil pack failing a common issue. Better off spending the money and buying a genuine one.
Aftermarket ones can be a bit iffy.
Give it a good service. Plugs and leads and fuel filter etc 1st. Then change the coil pack.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Sit in the car
Take the key out, touch it on your head and count to ten, trust me this how you know the key is in the right place.
Then hold the trip reset button on the spedo cluster and then put the key in turn the ignition to position ii and wait 5 seconds holding the reset button and ignition at position 2.
TEST appears, let go of the rest button
The cluster will run a test sequence and if the spedo sensor is not reaching the cluster it will show up a dtc code.
Press the reset button on the tripometer to scroll each test sequence.
note the battery voltage reading as well .
write down any dtc codes.
Fords are a bit funny and some dtc are intercepted at the cluster end and only appear as obdii dtc when a subsequent error occurs, cam + crank + speed sensor are the main ones diagnosed via the dash diagnostics sequence and wont show on obdii scanners.
This stumps many a code reader expert
If the speed sensor has no signal, it is torx bolted in the gearbox under the passenger wheel arch and cost around £15 and takes around a minute to replace with the wheel off.
Until the signal from this speed sensor to the cluster is restored expect any amount of random obdii codes via a code reader.
To cancel the test, remove the key for 10 seconds or more.
