Still waiting for my payment after 19 days. This is the longest they have ever taken, but it's still within the quoted 28 days so not a lot I can do about it.

Keep your fingers crossed they go over 28days & feel obliged to pay compensation. :D

They seem to be improving ! That's about 11 days quicker than they managed for me in May.

  • I'm also with SP.

Since my 2nd PV system was installed, the meter has run backwards for some long periods. I told them 3 years ago when system 1 was installed that the meter ran backwards and they took no action.

At the beginning of May this year, when it became apparent that there was no way that I'd get a positive usage on the meter - even allowing for import on the dull days and during the evening/night - I asked for a telephone call-back. I explained the situation to the lady. She said "It's quite normal for the meter to run backwards when you're generating more than you are using". "Really"? I said "and it won't damage the meter" I asked in innocence . I then asked what would happen when I sent in a meter reading which showed a negative import. "Oh that's ok", she said, "we'll credit your account with the difference when you send in the reading - we have your bank account details we use for the DD".

    Quite unbelievable!

Just to get this in writing, I emailed their customer support department giving them a synopsis of what I had been told, asking them for confirmation that what I had been told was correct. Their reply was that I had already received a full answer by telephone and that the details were correct.

We'll see what happens next month when I send in the next set of readings.

The summer quarter meter reading was due on 10th August. I tried to input a reading which was less then the previous reading into the on-line 'enter your meter reading' page and it was rejected because it was 65kWh lower than the previous. So I just added 1 to the last reading and this was accepted.

The meter reader man was due at the end of the month for the annual 'actual' reading. He duly arrived and took the readings. Today I have received a revised bill from SP. It's negative! (Minus £2.00). They have recalculated my electricity consumption from last March and averaged the daily amount over the period to the end of August. This has done two things:-

Firstly, my contract ended in May and the new one is at a higher price per unit. As the price went up in May and my actual usage due to the solar panels was very much reduced, the new bill is increased due to the extra units estimated at the new price.

Secondly, since May I have probably not used all of my tier 1 units, but due to the averaging, the number of units at tier 2 prices during March and April has been reduced and the number of tier 1 units increased since May.

But I can't complain as the meter has at times run backwards for long periods.

They've also reduced my monthly DD amount by £32.
