Once bad credit has dropped of your credit report

In the past I have had numerous defaulted accounts and a ccj on my credit file. Pretty much everything has now ran its course of 6 years on my credit file and has dropped off including the CCJ. I am wondering where I stand with the credit that has dropped off as I have had numerous accounts that I stopped paying 6-7 years ago have dropped off my credit report so my credit rating has increased significantly but I do still recieve letters from these creditors that have bought the bad debts chasing for payment.
Where do I stand with these creditors and how do I go about stopping them from chasing me (bearing in mind I have not responded to any requests for payment for over 6 years).
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I am continuing to pay the CCJ and will do until it is clear but have not made contact with any of the others in over 6 years so that means I can use the statute barred letters even if the debt has been sold on to other debt companies I presume as it is the same debt?
Thanks very much for your help.0 -
