Yaris or a Micra make a good first car.0

Before you buy any car, get an insurance quote on it for him first.0

35000 miles in 9 years? How often has it been serviced?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Is that the three cylinder engine?
Make sure it just 'thrums' when you're driving it as they can get noisy.
Also timing chain rattle as from memory theres no tensioner on it.
Also, had one with head gasket failure, so watch for that too.0 -
Thanks for the replies:-) he's going to look for something else.Insurance not a problem as he's had quotes and he's had license for 1 and half years now so its gone down a lot.He couldn't afford the quotes he was getting last year that's why he waited.
Thanks again:-)0 -

No idea as he's decided not to bother even going to see it.0 -
Certainly play around with a few quotes and cars. Remember, sometimes less popular but bigger cars can be fairly cheap to insure as they aren't seen as having the younger driver risk.
Pick the cars based on what he wants to do with it, if it's just nipping round town then the 1.2 is fine. If he needs to travel a bit for work a bigger motor might be a more relaxing drive etc etc.
Then look on condition. There are plenty of cars out there. If he's not in a rush that will help. For the first car the danger is getting over excited about having your own wheels and buying the first thing you see! What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
