I swear since this new BBC Three show 'The Call Centre" started airing and people have watched it and found it entertaining and funny (apparently) all call centres everywhere have decided to try their luck and see if their popularity has increased at all. The amount of calls I am getting at home and at work has tripled!!!!!
The latest this morning was your standard pushy call centre employee trying to get us to sign up to the exact same BT Broadband package, nothing would change at all....but a whole £6 cheaper!!! What a miracle!!
Do they not realise that I can phone up BT within minutes and find out whether they are affiliated with them?! Shock horror, they're not.
Just go away!!!!
Is anyone else experiencing more calls than normal??

Pops, best way to deal with them is to play a game where you see how long you can keep them on the phone for without giving them a thing in return. Totally changes things.Pants0

"What's your name?"
"Brian"
"Hold on Brian, I just need to go and get a pen to write everything down."
Put the phone down and go have a bath/make dinner/go to the cinema/watch TV. See how long you can keep them on for.0 -
Tell them you're on the TPS and hang up. If they call back, be less polite. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

If you are not already registered with TPS do so now

You can play games with them but you might find that the agent is just as bored as you are and will play along.
The best thing to do is to find out exactly who is calling you - either by having a bit of non commital chat with the agent or if you can retrieve the phone no through your caller display you can find co details.
Tell them to remove you from their call list and request that they do not call again.
UK companies are required to comply with this and can be fined if they don't, but with overseas calls it may not work.
Bear in mind that you may get calls from companies that you have had a previous relationship or contact with and you might have given consent for them to contact you.
It's all very well answering the phone and leaving them hanging on or pretending to be the gardener / decorator / maid, etc to a cold caller but you are better just telling them that you are not interested and ask that they remove your details.0 -

I have tried this before asking them to remove me from their books etc etc and still get the calls until last week when I did the let them hang on whilst I got on with the housework. I was getting in excess of 6 calls a day - I haven't had one call since!:j0 -
TPS an absolute waste of time!!. Whenever I mentioned this to an unwanted caller they just laughed0

Just say 'S.W.S.W.S.W.N' to them."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Had one the other day where the chap was asking if I had any unsecured personal loans.
When i asked him to clarify who he was and what company he worked for, all he said was "My name is Nelson"
I pointed out to him that, as a cold caller, he had to provide me with the details of who was actually calling me, so I asked again for him to clarify his company details.
I actually laughed at him when he said "I can see you have time to waste, but I do not as I am offering a valuable service" then he hung up... :rotfl::rotfl:“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
A favourite trick of mine when I receive sales calls at work is to ask them which company they are calling from, tell them I need to put them through to the correct person, Google their head office & then transfer them to their own office.0
