Single person cheap hotel in london and/or ilford

Hello everyone,
I need some help finding cheap places to stay in London or Ilford for two nights. I have to meet some friends and eventually I'll stay in a hotel; I know I should have planned this earlier but I can't find anything under budget now.
I don't know how good hostels are but I'd like to avoid them as having two many people in one room(strangers) makes me wonder whether it is safe to have or leave your stuff when you go out
So currently I'm using megabus and national express to check the best prices to go there(haven't found any other service cheaper than them e.g trains).
For hotel, I'm looking for a private single room for 2 days with a budget of around £20 pp x night(i know im asking a lot lol)

What I've searched for so far is travelstay, travelodge, hostelbookers but no luck. Any other reccommendation for two nights 21st/22nd june or 28th/29th june?

Thank you

You would have to book quite a while in advance in one of the Travelodge sales to get a London hotel room for £20 per night and even then at weekends you would be lucky to get a sale room at that rate. If you are meeting up with some friends, could you come to London on the coach on the day and travel back the same day? If you are planning to be out with friends until the early hours of the morning you could just stay up and get the coach back the following morning and sleep on the coach.

I would look out for the dates of the next Travelodge sale and although the start time is 6am, they often start loading the sale rooms earlier (from about 3am)and that way you could book a room that would allow you to meet up with friends and stay at a hotel at a later date.

I am sorry that I can't be more helpful, but I think you have to consider paying about £100 a night this last minute in a hotel or consider meeting up with friends during the day and travelling home after or stay up all night and get the coach back the following day or look at arranging a meeting up with them later in the year after booking a Travelodge room in the next sale.

    Thank you

The problem is that I'm staying for two nights , going on friday evening and coming back on sunday so it's not really possible to stay up all day and night.

Having said that, I have found prices of singles room of around £80 for two nights which makes it £40 a night, but it's still expensive.
Hostels on the other hand are very cheap, some £15 a night but again not sure how good and especially safe they are.

I'm not sure I understand that, how do I know which date travelodge puts up sales etc?

If you are staying two nights could you get all of your stuff in a backpack and take it with you to meet friends? If the safety of a hostel is the concern, that could be a solution.
If you are meeting two sets of friends, perhaps you could sleep on their sofas on each night? I know it's not a great solution, but if you ask, I'm sure they'd agree to it.

oh yeah it's not a problem for them at all. Is the situation that doesn't allow me to sleep with them. The only live in one room and also their father lives with them in the same room. Now they father is away, if he doesn't come by next week then I'll be sleeping with them buy if he does then there will be no place for me to sleep. This is the reason why I have been able to plan in advance and what I'm doing now it's just searching for an accommodation in case they're no space where they live.

If you sign up for the weekly email (link is at top of the page second from left above the Moneysavingexpert.com sign) there is usually advance notice of any upcoming Travelodge sales.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/dea...odge-discounts

There is also usually information on the next batch of Megabus fares when they are released so worth keeping an eye out for those as the first few seats are 50p-£1 (plus a 50p booking fee) on certain routes. A friend of ours recently stayed in a new Liverpool Travelodge which he booked in the last sale some months ago at a rate of £15 a night and booked a return journey from London to Liverpool for £2.50 in total so travel and hotel stay for 2 nights for £32.50.

I know this is of no use for your visit this month to London, but if you want to visit friends again in the future it may be worth booking in advance, especially as there is a TL in Ilford.

Have you tried any of the University Halls of Residence eg. LSE I have seen them advertise. They are on the internet, so a search of other Universities may help. Good Luck.
