Car Insurance required for 33 days

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help.
I move abroad in August but my car insurance runs out at the beginning of July. I would like to renew my insurance for 33 days but my company only offers annual premiums and have said that I would need to take out an annual premium and then pay a cancellation fee.
Does anyone know of an insurance company that offers either a 0 cancellation fee (I doubt this) or offers short term insurance at premiums that fairly match an annual premium. So far I have been quoted £250 for the 33 days by a short term insurer. My annual insurance quote was £262 fully comp!
Thanks for any suggestions.

As you have seen, your only options are the usual policy or short term temporary cover.
All you can do is do the sums and see which works out the cheapest.
A wheeze to reduce the cost is to take out cover and cancel on 14 days (usually incurring a cancellation fee, but only paying pro rata for the days on cover), then repeating the exercise with another insurer. Look for companies with a low cancellation charge.
(Though if you have a claim whilst on cover you cannot get any refund of premium)0 -
Just repeating as above really.
Probably cheaper doing that than taking a short term policy.
When shopping for insurance you need to ask about the cancellation charges. Dont forget if you make a claim the full balance will possibly be required.
Cheap policy but high charges could cost more than paying a bit extra and low charges.
Price can vary from nothing to £75 for the cancellation fee. Plus charge for time on cover and any extra's.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
