Landlord Quoting Three weeks to fix boiler

Just because you would accept it, doesn't mean others should have to. And I *certainly* wouldn't. I think it's highly irresponsible for a landlord to not have a gas contract and to be so flippant about when the work will be done. This is the reason I would use an agent every time. Some landlords moan about tenants being bad, and it's not surprising when they're treating them like this!
Whilst I sympathise with what you are saying in some respects, the simple fact is that the law does not see tenants as consumers requiring some sort of special level of service.
The OP will get precisely nowhere by checking into a hotel and demanding things of the landlord.
This is perhaps unfortunate, as I admit there is a significant possibility that the effort being put into resolving the situation is not 100%. But it's reality.0 -
Just a quick suggestion but do you go to the gym or go swimming as you can then use the showers there etc. Only a suggestion though.0

I had the same problem and it took over 3 weeks. It was not the landlords fault that the plumber was unable to fix it instantly. They did as much as they could to ensure that the boiler was fixed.
Have a cold shower...it's not the most pleasant experience but it isn't going to hurt.0 -

Re; the last post: I have been under a British gas contract for 20 years (3 years in this house,) and I have NEVER waited more than 3 days for ANY repair. And it's warm now yes, but having no way to bathe is another story. No WAY would I tolerate it for longer than a few days.
The tenants arn't being hung out to dry, your post is almost hysterical in it's landlord bashing - and completely misguided to boot - it serves simply as an example to the OP on the kind of attitude that would swiftly result in a S21 from most landlords.
How has the landlord been flippant in any way? He has responded to the OP's maintenance call and arranged for a part to be delivered at the earliest opportunity. He has promptly communicated this to the OP.
What else can the landlord do other than invite the OP in for a shower?
What has involving an agent got to do with anything? They can't insist a landlord has a boiler service contract? They can't undertake repairs on a property or incur costs on behalf of the landlord without his consent.. an agent works for the landlord, NOT the tenant.
And for the secon time, the tenants DON'T have "no way to bathe", there is a bath which is sound and I'm sure they have a kettle... there is running cold water... job done unless I'm missing something?
As before, the OP has recieved excellent and reasonable advice from other posters on the thread and I hope they are able to utilise that to see if the part can be sourced anywhere more quickly.0
