Possible passport problem............

Can anyone advise, my son has just looked at his passport and noticed there is a spelling mistake in one of his middle names, It shows the name Janes NOT James.
We are flying out to France next Saturday, and the tickets have first name and surname on them.
The passport was renewed in July last year, but i honestly never noticed the spelling mistake.
Will this make a difference? Can they stop us (him) from travelling?
Has anyone else had this happen to them?

TIA

I would not think this would cause an issue - the airlines only check first and last names - they would have nothing to say his middle name is not Janes (even though he might be upset)

    Have a good trip!

    Hi,

As posted above this should not affect yor travel as they are only concerned with first and last names and making sure these match up with what is on the tickets.

However on return from your trip I would contact the issuing office and tell them their mistake and they should put it right free of charge.
Year before last I discovered that my passport my surname was spelled TURBULL as opposed to TURNBULL:mad: I paniced as it was 2 weeks to departure and had to spend a day at Durham so they could put it right had been travelling with this passport for several years and no one had ever noticed including me but they put it right free of charge.
