Bills Bank Account

Hi all
Hoping that someone can help me.
I am looking for a bank account that I can set up jointly with my girlfriend to pay the household bills out of. As it would be a bills account it would not have a salary paid into it or a credit balance of more than £600/£700 a month.
We would need to set up a standing order to pay into it and accept DD's to be taken out.
Any suggestions as to a good account with decent interest. Would a cahoot or similar account be available without a salary being paid in.
Many thanks in advance

I would think its probably possible to get an account from Smile or Cahoot.
If not then Norwich and Peterborough BS have a gold current account which pays 3% gross on credits of £500 or more a month. Comes with cheque book, debit card (if you want) and internet banking too (so you can easily manage SO and DDs). There is more information on their site, and you can apply for a joint account on their site too.0 -
First Direct are paying £25 to new a/c holders 6 weeks after the first deposit. They also have a fairly good process for moving direct debits/standing orders from your old a/c to your first direct a/c and their telephone and online banking services are v.good. They also offer a free £500 o/d limit if required. Hope this helps.0

We use Smile for the exact same thing.
They don't mind (never said anything) and we didn't fill in salary mandates.
You get £500 o/d as well with each account.

Me and my partner opened an account with HSBC about 7 years ago for this very same thing. We don't have a switch card or anyhitng like that, but it's perfect for DDs, SOs etc. Plus we have nowhere near £600 going into it, and they've never complained.
I'm not saying their interest rates are any good, just that it can be done with them...
