Best way of selling an X Box & Games

As the title really - what's the best way of selling an X box with games?

Am concerned about getting ripped off by a scammer if we sell on ebay.

will try to give more ideas tomorrow but depending how much you can be bothered with the hassle you may want to sell some of the games individually, newer ones for sure will fetch more individually than their value as part of a bundle, is it the 360 or the original xbox?

Do you live near a CEX? They take games for cash as do most games shops. You can check how much they would give you online as well as how much they sell them for, it will give you an idea of how much they are worth:

Ebay isn't too bad, I have sold a few on there and only really had one problem!

If you're worried about selling on ebay you could take them into CEX ?

I would try an Ebay auction and start at an acceptable price for you. It will really depend on condition and included games etc.
Check Ebay's historical prices of similar sold consoles/games.
You could do Collection in person and accept only cash (they might want to see it working).
You may get a lower price than average as fewer people will be in a postion to collect but that might be offset by them not having to pay for postage.
    See what response you get.

cex is ok, and will get you easiest money if your close to one but probably overall get you least money, so least hassle=least money, they will test the 360 though so expect to have to wait a while after you handed it in (30mins to 2 hours is pretty standard depending how busy they are)

if you want max money then my advice would be to use cex online to value each part (console with 1 controller, spare controllers, games, any other accessories) cex list what cash price they would pay out for each item online.

Do the research looking at completed listings and list games and accessories that are worth listing (i.e you'd get more than cex offer after fees and postage) on ebay.

Leave a small bundle of older less valuable games with the console and stick that on gumtree/facebook, this is only good if your happy for someone to come to the house and buy it. Also be prepared for mails/phone calls offering silly low offers or swaps.

This method takes more time but would probably bring the best returns.

If you cant be bothered with all the work in this then list either on gumtree/facebook or ebay as a large bundle, if selling on Ebay make sure you work out how hour going to post and price accordingly, make sure the postage method gets a signature and insures for the relevant amount.

Take note of any serial numbers etc before sending. Tighten your buyer requirements on Ebay.

you can never stop every scam but you can do as much as possible to protect yourself.

In short, more effort probably = more money, less effort = easy life = less money.
  • Agree that it's all down to how much hassle you want (or want to avoid!) and how desperate you are to maximise your cash.

As well as CEX, try Cash Convertors and Cash Generators if you have them nearby. The last time I took some DS games in I got a far better deal from Cash Generators than CEX offered me, so it's worth getting a quote from more than one place before selling.

And, of course, once you've got your money, there's no chance of a chargeback or refund request, or being sent back a faulty console, further down the line.
  • maxemise your income from games by putting them into genre kids, family fun, action, racing, thriller, horror.

then go on FB swap shops and list the games with a description of offers, and stipulate offers with no min price all genre listed separately but under one album on you FB so they are all together.

with the X-box, it would be better to have a picture with the X-box turned on so it proves no ring of death and have all the extra's in it like steering wheels etc etc to make it more attractable and thus youll get more interest.
  • try Game as well, you can check the current price they are offering cash and exchange , I recently traded my PS3 for cash at game as I got a better deal than in CEX I was in and out of the store in 10 minutes.

    current trade prices are £40 - £80 and £36 - £72 cash (link below):

Note for Cash you need photo ID and recent proof of address.

They also take games and you can get a quote on their website.
