Need help about financial associates

Hello basically I signed up for a credit report this evening and I noticed it says " financial associates " then "Mr so and so" (not mentioning names, anyway It says a date at the side 21 jan 2013. So.. I actually know this person it's my sisters boyfriend. What I want to know is how the hell has he got there because I have not signed for anything with him or wrote his name down as my partner when apply for credit. I've told my sister about it and she seems to think he has done anything nor has she! I don't think I believe them because how would that end up there not like its a person I don't know he's actually close to home so seems dodgy, he applied for a car on finance in January not sure what date but I couldn't be a guarantor as I don't work but have a fair good income every week as get tax credit ect and my partner works.

Two possibilities. He put you as a guarantor without your knowledge.

Or the credit reference agencies have confused you and your sister.

Either way SHOULD see easy removal. I'm telling you now, you've got a fight on your hands if it is with equifax.
  • Can they do that with me not working?

Its most likely that a lender or a potential lender has confused you with your sister.

Maybe sister and partner applied for a joint loan, somehow its been mixed up with you and so he has been associated with you instead of her (or as well as her).

Easy to rectify. You'll need to file a notice of disassociation with the credit reference agency you used. Also worth checking your report with the other 2 agencies, if the link is also shown on there then file a notice of disassociation with them as well.

You might also want to check that your sister doen't appear as a financial alias on your file, and that none of her credit accounts appear on your credit file in error. If they do its because some lender(s) have incorrectly assumed you are the same person - and this is usually a bit more of a pain to sort, but can be done. It does happen with siblings, especially with twins (due to the same date of birth) or siblings with similar names or same middle names living at the same address.
