Have I got a claim?

Hi,
I had car finance with a small local finance company in 2002 for 2 years. I have NO documentation at all. How can I find out if I was sold PPI and if I can claim it back?
Out of interest, who actually pays the money back? Is it the original lender?
Thanks for your help,
Vicky x

How can I find out if I was sold PPI

Ask the finance company or do a data subject access request costing £10.
and if I can claim it back?

That would depend on your reasons for complaint. Examples are on the article on this site.

The firm that sold the PPI. It would be the lender only if the lender sold it. It would be a broker if they sold it or car dealer if they did etc. (although if a broker or car dealer, you may have other issues as its pre-regulation).

It's pre-regulation I'm afraid (jan 2005), so the car finance company won't have to consider any complaint even if you did have PPI.
