Were you working at someone's property, or communal land?
Why didn't you have council bin(s) to put the clippings/waste into?
What's a "gaffer"? I thought that was the boss but obviously not LOL!
What prompted the "stereotypes in tracksuits" to come out and get involved in what you were doing? I'm not disbelieving you, but it seems really odd that they should just appear from nowhere and be instantly offensive to the point of swearing and trying to hit you, completely unmotivated!!
this guy was looking for trouble and has a reputation for being aggresive, people who know him call him psycho. And there are bins for grass, and i was using the right bin, just the wrong neighbours bin. This is just all council houses im doing.0 -

Okay, I know people get very possessive about their garden bins as you usually have to pay extra for them and can't overfill them. So did you suggest to put the waste into the right person's bin, or was it too late to do that? In situations where I have to deal with overly aggressive people (not often!) I try and take the very calm and apologetic approach - it is very hard for an argument to arise or an aggressive situation escalate if only one side is being argumentative LOL!
Think about your position as a representative of the council. Do you think your response to the situation was calm and measured enough? If not, maybe think about how you could do better next time to stop things getting out of hand?
To be honest, this is probably out of your hands now and any decision will be based on what the manager witnessed when he was there. But try to remember exactly who said what and perhaps come up with a suggestion or two of how to make sure it doesn't happen again! Good luck!DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Ok seriously.
Jusat tell your boss how it was, end of. Surely if the area is as bad as you say, and im not naive to think there arent idiots in this world your boss will surely know being a council worker and most likely had confrontations with these people before. All the big powers they've silenced me. ok thanks ill that along those lines0 -
Unfortunately having been there only 6 months (or less) you don't have a leg to stand on.
Hopefully if this person is as bad as you say they are then common sense will prevail and you'll keep your job.
I would appologise for giving a false name, explain that you felt intimidated and take it from there.
Obviously try and stay calm and be polite when getting your story across. I'd also perhaps refrain from using phrases such as chav's or anything else like that - just stick to the fact. A man/gentleman came out and said '* * ' and threatened me.
Best of Luck

Edit: I don't know if anyone who has been there for a while has dealt with such a situation before - there may be guidlines or perhaps they could offer some advice. Clearly you maybe didn't stay as calm as you would have done if you hadn't been suffering from personal stress though.Making my money go further with MSE :j
