Now that I've had more time to think about it, it's more likely that the clients from Nigeria and Zimbabwe are already in the UK and engaged these solicitors' help in applying to stay here properly through the correct channels.

I'd agree with your further thought: I believe - although this is not an area in which I have ANY expertise - that if they were not here already there'd be precious little a UK based solicitor could do. Of course it's possible they have friends or family over here, trying to get them legal help, but I'd expect that to be the minority.

Better to take the orthodox Legal route if you can afford it. I think Immigration Law may have been affected by LASPO so if there is remotest chance to getting Legal help, I would go for it, using the Legal 500 recommendations in your Area of course.

Immigration Law is a Specialized Area like other areas of Law. Solicitors specialisms are something to take advantage of in the right sense of the word. Doing a LEGAL immigration way to go!
