Had New laptop for a few month it has windows 8 installed, I don't like it, to tricky for me to bother to use all the Apps.

I have an old unwrapped/ unused version of Vista, can I uninstall 8 and load Vista easily?

Also when I load pics from SD card to laptop they are stored in an app that I cannot access, how do I send pics to my pics file?

If its a retail version then yes you can install it on then just install drivers etc.

    Don't do it!

As above, I would not even consider doing this. Development of Vista stopped around 4 years ago, so if any of the hardware in your laptop was developed since then, there is a chance that there will be no properly Vista-compatible drivers for it.

What version of Win 8 do you have? If it's Win 8 Pro, the licence agreement should allow a free downgrade to 7.

[Edit: looking at it further it looks unlikely you will have Pro. Whether it would be viable or cost effective to upgrade from 8 to 8 Pro and then downgrade to 7 I don't know...]

Many thanks to you all, I will bin the Vista.

Should I buy and install W7 or learn to use W8
although I don't really need or use Apps?

I'm old and like things simple!

Windows 8. 64 bit, that's all it says in the spec. description.

Would you be happier if Windows 8 looked more familiar perhaps?
The thread Lum started has some information.

I'm still on Windows XP so haven't done it myself but if you needed help I'm sure people here will offer advice.

Thanks Onzey, I would need to learn a different language to do all that stuff,
do remember I am an OAP, a retired chippy, very "LOW TECH INDEED"

Thank's for the thought and advice though.

I was going to say something about it looking a bit daunting but didn't in the end. :)

As Lum says "You don't have to follow all of them..........The first two should be sufficient for most people"

Take your time and read only the first two tweaks 2 or 3 times and you might surprise yourself :)

If you can use another computer to access the forums then might be easier to ask questions if necessary during the process. I'm sure someone here who's already done it will help.
