Car hire and Vanquis Credit cards

Hi
Just wondering if people have had any problems 'Holding' a deposit for car hire with a Vanquis card? I have plenty of spare credit to cover the £250 but I thought I'd better double check before showing up and Friday and something going wrong. The car hire company is Europcar if that helps?
Thanks in advance!

The shadow charge will be the deposit AND the hire cost and the fuel cost, so you may need more than the £250 you mentioned.
They then usually either charge what is due on return, which cancels the original shadow charge, OR the charge you in full for the lot up front, then a credit for all the things like the deposit on return.0 -
Thanks for your reply I appreciate it! I booked the car on my debit card and asked about how the deposit worked. They simply said I'd need £250 clear on my credit card for everything to go through. Do you think they have neglected to tell me anything? I couldn't have made it any clearer when I inquired!0

I've always found Europcar ok with deposits etc - if you explain when you pick up they'll try and help (or they did with me when I was starting out again and only had Vanquis).
I find Hertz to be the most challenging - all of the branches around where I live are 'well, we have to do what the computer says' etc etc..Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0 -
I have hired a car from Europcar a number of times in the past using Vanquis and had no issues. The problems only seem to come up when using a pre paid card:D
