In 2001/2 I became unemployed and made a claim on a martgage protection policy I had had for a few years with the Abbey National. They responded that since I had paid up my mortgage I was not entitled to claim and repaid my contributions from when my mortgage had been repaid. With all the current claims against the banks for unfair treatment I wonder if I perhaps may also have a claim. Although the Abbey National were technically correct in that the policy was indeed a Mortgage protection policy. they were happy to take my payments, and would have continued to do so, if I had never claimed. Please could someone advise if I have a claim. and, if so, what action I should take?

Many thanks

These plans are open ended and not linked directly to the mortgage. So, they would keep paying it until you stop it. However, they correctly refunded the premiums from the point the mortgage stopped. So, that is good.

You havent said what your reasons for complaint are. What would they be?
