WFT & unpaid leave, any advice

I have no childcare as my childminder gave up in Sept last yr. I have a 3yr old who is at a school nursery which is great and I have a fantastic grandmother who is still healthy enough to look after her in the afternoons. Schools in Northern Ireland are off from the end of June to the start of September, my grandmother isnt fit to look after dd for a full day, I work 2 days one week, 3 days the next. I may have to take unpaid leave for the 2 months which is 20 days of work for me. I'm not sure how this would affect my wft and also my small benefit towards my rent. I honestly cant afford to take this leave especially with no wages but I really have nobody to look after my dd.

Any advice towards my wft would be greatfully received

Cate

I'm sure i read that technically unpaid leave is treated as not working, and so your supposed to tell tax credits as you wouldnt be entitled to wtc during this period.

That said, when you get to the end of the year and declare your earnings, you wouldve been entitled to it anyway.

pretty sure you are allowed to take 4 consecutive weeks off on unpaid leave without you wtc being affected.

Is there no way you can take 4 wks off, get someone to look after him for a day, go back to work for a day or 2 and then take the next 4 weeks off.??? know its not ideal but it may work,....:o
