We bought a lot of our furniture from the The Old Mill Factory Shop in Bridport. It is a discounted factory shop and sell sofas, beds, mattresses and various pieces of furniture at very good prices and the quality is excellent. I have copied their details from their website.

  • Agree with the old mills factory shop; but we normally buy from Bridport Discount Furniture Shop which although they're not as cheap offer a very good service and are very good about squeezing us into a delivery slot. Also Argos if you're after cheap and cheerful, there's an Argos Extra at Babylon Hill in Yeovil, and some other shops up around there on the trading estate if I remember correctly

We have bought carpets and a mattress from Bridport Discount Furniture and they are very good but I would suggest trying The Old Mill Factory shop first as if they have the stock you want the prices and quality are excellent.

We bought a brass bed from there 3 years ago and when it was delivered it was in M&S packaging as this is one of the companies the factory manufactures for. We paid less than half the price the bed was in M&S.

You may also be able to negotiate a bit on the prices as my brother got a discount when he bought several items.

You can get much better quality at a much lower price than Argo if you shop around on ebay.

I know that many people are very wary about buying items like beds from ebay. However if you follow a few guidelines then you can save up to 75% on the shop prices:

    1) most important of all make sure that the seller gives a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

    2) check previous feedback for the seller, and even contact previous customers to ask them about the seller.

    3) use a company who display their phone number, so that you can talk to someone about your requirements (they want you to make the righ choice because it will cost them if you return it).

    4) check the sellers return policy. Many sellers charge for postage on returns.....can work out very expensive if you have unpacked a vacuum packed mattress, and you don't like it.

    5) try to use a seller who delivers using their own transport. Couriers often damage or misplace goods (believe me I know from experience).

Obviously you can't try before you buy, but for the saving it is worth the risk if you follow the guidelines above.
