With all the push for recycling, outsourcing of council's waste management, district heating from incinerators etc. what are the options for investment in this area? I'm thinking of solid income from utilities; I'm already exposed to growth opportunities in alternative energy funds.

I think that's a load of rubbish. You'd be throwing your money away. I guess if you've got money to burn.....poppy100

Shanks is a ftse 250 company involved in waste management... i'v had my eye on it for a while and may buy some shares in the near future.
Impax Environmental Markets is another option i'm considering.
However, my worry is that these sectors are getting expensive because of the speculation about future growth...0 -
Have you also considered Jupiter Green Investment Trust?Anything posted is not given as advice but to help with a discussion.0

Radio 4 on listen again is helpful http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/science/costingtheearth.shtml
Made the point that why are we paying to have waste taken away, when it's then traded. Nice business, you get paid to take something which you can then sell!0
