Feel quite sorry for the OP on this one. Asked a relatively straightforward question and just got a barrage of nonsense instead of actual answers.

FWIW, I bought my sofa on free credit. I asked if I could have a discount for paying cash, they said no...so it literally cost nothing to have 0%. I kept the cash in the bank, made some interest and benefitted a little from inflation. Sure, some people get into trouble with 0%, but plenty get into trouble with car finance, PDLs, unsecured loans, CCs, mortgages, you name it...You can't ban all credit options because a minority of people can't manage their finances.

Also, when asked "what do the public think" - I'd much rather someone went away and actually asked the public what they thought than just trying to guess themselves.

    OP, personally I'd like

    1) An end to the silly constant sales (as above)
    2) Faster delivery across the whole range - our last sofa took 13 weeks to deliver, unbelievable....I assume they were waiting for the trees to grow...Only a couple of sofas in each store were "in stock" for delivery in a couple of weeks, which is ridiculous in this day and age.
    3) TV units with space for a decent number of boxes underneath. Most allow for 2-3 things, but I have 5 at present and could easily have more.
    4) Aftercare - I'd have liked a call a year after purchase just to make sure the sofas were all good, didn't need anything tightening, repairs etc.
    5) Less "warehousy" feel - I'd like more, smaller rooms to a) break up the space a little and b) give a better sense of scale to things.

Agree with Idiophreak. People ask for help with their CV/application/interview all the time and I don't recall anyone wanting part of their salary/wage if they get the job.

Catherine_John's suggestion is good. Could get feedback at point of sale and after the customer has had the 'whatever' for a period of time. You may have limited response and only hear from people who have gripes but at least you asked them and there should be something of value to learn. IME though, feedback forms shouldn't be too glossy as customers often don't like seeing their money spent on fripperies.

Ah, but half of it is what you DO with the gripes - Lakeland ask on their survey forms if you've ever been less than satisfied but not told them at the time, and they send you your money back if you so much as say "well, that bag wasn't quite what I expected and it's not as useful as I thought it would be!"

    It's all down to perception.
I would ask why the company was selling £300 sofas at £1500 (reduced to £800 as we are having a 'sale' don't you know).

When I was in need of a new sofabed I looked in DFS and they had one with what can only be described as a cargo net for support @ £795 (reduced by 40% in a sale, obviously). Ended-up buying a much better one with proper sprung wooden slats made by Alstons. Got it from an independent store for £695 inc. delivery (and not in a sale either).
    Never Knowingly Understood.
