You can stagger along the beach on the way back - but take a torch or do it on a night with a full moon

Hi I live just down the road from Craster and we eat out a fair bit in the area. I would say a must on list is the Alnwick treehouse although it's a bit dearer than others it's worth it as its so magical inside. Also as said before the Arthouse Alnwick is very good and very reasonable too.
For snacks through the day either Grannies or the Strawberry Lounge down narrowgate in Alnwick are lovely, generous portions different from norm things on menu, strawberry lounge has the most amazing massive scones for only £1.20 in amazing flavours. Further up the road in a little village called Alnmouth a little cosy pub called the red lion is nice and a little further in a fishing town called Amble there's a lovely Italian called Zecca they have nicest pizzas I've ever had, there's also a new restaurant right on the harbour called the old boathouse that sells beautiful fresh fish dishes freshly caught from the boats in the harbour.
If you go to trip advisor and look for restaurents in Alnwick it'll tell you all the other nice places to eat tho.
Hope you enjoy your stay it's a beautiful area although I am a little bias :-)

Is the pub in Craster (opposite the smokery) still serving food ie kippers? Worth a lunchtime visit if it is, good food and views.

The Cook and Barker Inn, that's it! (bit further afield but worth a trip)

Bit pricey if I remember right, but delicious!

That's a one I forgot for the list, the cook and barker !! It has a very good reputation round here so highly recommended also one of my face places to eat through day is the Running fox at Felton it's a bakery come newsagent come cafe but is amazing, the afternoon teas are EPIC and at £7.50 per person very good value . Very wise to book thoas its very very popular and gets very busy.
