Do DWP need to be notified about redundancy when I have a new job?

Options
I am being made redundant on the 30th June, although as that is a Sunday my last day at work is the 28th June. I have found a new job and start on the 15th July. I have a holiday booked from 29th June until 6th July.

Do I need to notify DWP? I am not interested in claiming Job Seekers Allowance, I just want to keep myself right wrt National Insurance contributions.

My redundancy includes PILON for the three month notice period in my contract. The company have indicated that the redundancy amount + PILON will non taxable, but if HMRC come looking for it then it is my responsibility.

Thanks,
Paul

Well I certainly would not enter the "bearpit" of the Job Centre just to protect 1 weeks contribution based benefit and NI conts.
I was in a similar position to you but had a 3 week gap. Even that was not worth it.
