BMI Credit Card

in Credit cards
Hi,
I'm really new to the whole idea of a credit card, having previously stuck to debit cards. I was wondering if someone could help me out with a fairly basic query.
I applied for the BMI credit card and was accepted. In my application, I set up a direct debit, so that I would make a payment of £1000 for the first month. The total cost of the surgery is around £3000.
I have the surgery this Monday. I was wondering when this first payment will come off and as it is a direct debit, I'm assuming it will come off automatically? BMI say they send through a statement each month.
Any help would be helpful and I'll try to fill in the blanks if I've not given enough information.

You will be sent a statement and the statement will tell you the date the DD will be taken.

It'll tell you on the statement when payment is due. If the DD is live by then, that date wil also be shown on the statement.
If the DD date is not shown, you will need to mke a manual payment.0 -
Thank you for the replies.
In terms of the date, would it be safe to assume that it would be at least a couple of weeks after the statement is received?0 -
A DD can be set for a minimum payment, full payment or, possibly, fixed payment for all months.StudentBoy wrote: ». In my application, I set up a direct debit, so that I would make a payment of £1000 for the first month.
You can't set it for £1000 payment for the first month only.
The payment date is usually about 25 days after the statement is issued.0
